Colour A with Colour C for knotting
Wrap the Magic Butterfly Loom 5 times and make 4 squares
Wrap the Small Butterfly Loom 5 times and make 4 squares
Colour B with Colour C for knotting
Wrap the Magic Butterfly Loom 5 times and make 4 squares
Wrap the Small Butterfly Loom 5 times and make 8 squares
Lightly damp press all of the squares and straighten out the loops where necessary
Use the diagram as a guide and using the Butterfly Twist technique
Tip: When you get to the end of a join, put a contrasting piece of wool through the loop to stop it unravelling and to make it easy to identify. When you come to join the different sections you will go through these loops and discard the piece of wool.
Front & back
Join 2 magic sizes together, colour A with colour A and colour B with colour B so you have 4 rectangles
Join 2 contrasting coloured rectangles to make a front and a back – here you will pick up the ‘ends’ of the joins with the contrasting wool, you will again put a contrasting piece of wool through the loop to stop it unravelling and to make it easy to identify.
Base & sides
In a row, join
2 colour A,
8 colour B and
2 colour A
Join front, back and sides
Start at the top of one side, match the loops, go around the bottom and back to the top, finish by following the finishing instructions
Repeat for opposite side
Handles
Position the handles ( mine are positioned between large daisies). Using the darning needle and colour A wrap the yarn around the handle and through the pattern nice and tightly a number of times and secure off. If you want to line your bag see the details for the Troon shopper, changing the measurements accordingly.
